CLOTHES MOTHS - WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE

In Australia there are two well known species of clothes moths – the webbing clothes moth and the case making clothes moth.

Clothes moths have a head, thorax (body) and two pairs of distinct fringed edged wings. At full extension, the wings span 9mm to 16mm and at rest, the wings fold back along the length of the body. There are three pairs of long thin legs on the underside of the thorax, used for walking, running and jumping.

Behaviour

Clothes moths are weak flyers, the female clothes moth would rather walk than fly. Adult clothes moths are nocturnal insects, however, unlike other moths – they are not attracted to light.
