SILVERFISH - WHAT THEY LOOK LIKE

Silverfish are silver or grey in colour, a wingless shiny insect with scales and two long antennae. They range in size from 12mm to 30mm with a body that is flat, oval, soft and covered in tiny scales that look like fish.

Behaviour

Silverfish are nocturnal, they prefer dark, damp and undisturbed habitats such as shoeboxes, sheds, garages and cupboards. Although they are not dangerous, they damage property and trigger allergies. Silverfish have a strong preference for complex sugars like starch. They’re known for eating glue, paper, carpet and clothes, especially materials like linen and silk.
