Bye-bye webmasters, we’ll take it from here.

SPIDER CONTROL - CAIRNS

Spiders have the ability to send shivers down our spines and raise the hairs on our arms. Most spiders produce venom and weave visible cobwebs all over your home – unfortunately, it takes more than the smack of a shoe to get rid of them, you’ll need expert help to keep your property pest-free.

SPIDERS

WHAT THEY ARE

Spiders are one of the most common pests in Australia. Although they are pests, spiders are essential in our ecosystem – they live in environments alongside us and eat smaller insects which helps us out. Unfortunately, there are a number of venomous or problematic spiders with a painful bite that you don’t want to share your space with.

There are two main types of spiders – webbing and non-webbing spiders. Each of these spiders has completely different habits. Webbing spiders secrete silk strands around your home, making them easy to find and unsightly. Non-webbing spiders hide behind furniture, in empty spaces and in cracks and crevices, which makes accidental contact more likely.  Typical spiders in this group are larger with the likes of the Huntsman Spider and Wolf spider.

There are over 10,000 spider species in Australia so there’s a high chance that you’ll come into contact with a few spiders – but you don’t have to live with them.

Spiders generally set up camp where they are most likely to catch prey, mostly outdoors, in bushes. Some are found closer and even indoors. Spider webs can be found in areas such as, around lights alongside windows and doors. These are ideal locations for spiders but not for homeowners because on average, there are about 100 eggs in one sac. Once the eggs hatch, spiderlings disperse quickly, crawling into tiny spaces in your home  – which creates a spider infestation.
